Why Scriptural Authority is Important

God is a God of order and not of confusion (I Cor. 14:33,40). If authority is important in secular governments, how much more it is in religious governments. During the the time when Jesus was ministering on earth in his physical presence, he was questioned by the Pharisees where his authority came from. Jesus answered the Pharisees by another question, asking them "The baptism of John whence was it from heaven or of men"(Matthew 21:23-25). Jesus acknowledged John the Baptist's authority as coming from heaven because he was sent from God (John 1:6).
